Organised by the Cambridge Centre for Landscape and People, this half-day symposium is open to the public free of charge and offers an overview on international conventions and relevant bodies dealing with coastal zones. Speakers will address the integration between nature and culture, methodological process to promote environmental conservation and alternatives for a more sustainable future, with the view to preserving world coastlines and their landscapes, beauty, cultures, ecosystems and services.

This three-day conference, organised by English Heritage, focuses on issues of maritime heritage and regeneration and investigates how a port’s history shapes the future of today’s 21st century waterfront.
It will take place in Liverpool, European Capital of Culture 2008, and include pan-national speakers from China, the USA, India, Nigeria, France and the UK. Dr Ray Bondin, Expert Advisor, former Assistant Secretary General to the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) will also be speaking.
